Smedley, Debrine Lim
Born in Malaysia, Debrine began her formal art training at Malaysia Institute of Arts.
After relocating to the USA in 1992, Debrine attended Art Students League in NYC, New Jersey Center for Visual Arts and Scottsdale Artists School.
Debrine painted extensively in watercolor and oil before turning her primary focus to sculpture in clay and stone. Her primary interest is figurative work, sculpting the human form. In recent years, Debrine has worked with Bronzesmith Fine Art Foundry in creating limited edition bronze casting of her sculptures. In 2016, her bronze sculpture “Fabric of Life” was accepted at the prestigious Salmagundi Annual Painting & Sculpture Exhibition. Debrine’s artworks are in collections in Malaysia and United States.
Debrine is currently creating a seven foot statue and a bas relief for installation in the center of Genoa, Nevada in August 2019, honoring the many volunteers who have made the annual Genoa Candy Dance a success for 100 years.
