McCarthy, Kevin

Kevin was born in New York in 1955 where he grew up in his fathers studio and developed a deep passion for the creation of shapes in many different media.

At age 15 he traveled to Italy and studied the public works of Michelangelo, among many other Renaissance masters, and was deeply moved by the presence of their work.

Kevin discovered his love for working directly in wax and has made this his primary sculpture medium. Kevin strives to endow his subjects with the same sense of energy, vitality and strength that he feels is present in all of humanity. He feels that the human soul can be reflected in any subject.

His goal is to render this elemental sense by redesigning nature in accord with its structural elements to produce the desired movement of shapes and bring life to the sculpture.
